Hydrogen in EU
Hydrogen has been noticed as a highly recommended subject that attracts the attention in Europe and globally. It can be used in many forms and applications: as a feedstock, as a fuel, as energy carrier and storage in a variety of different applications in power generation, in the industry, in transportation and society. There are different types of hydrogen depending on whether emissions are related or not. The green hydrogen does not emit carbon dioxide and almost no air pollution when it is used and because of that can seriously seen as a viable option for the decarbonization of several sectors.
Hydrogen is seen as a key priority for European Union in order to come closer to the targets set by the European Green Deal. Hydrogen could strongly contribute to EU’s efforts to decarbonize a large share of its energy consumption by 2050. EU has already issued its strategic vision for a climate-neutral EU and the share of hydrogen in Europe’s energy mix is projected to grow from the current less than 2% to 13-14% by 2050 .
